How bidding works
Every listing is curated
Our team writes every auction description based on seller-provided photographs, descriptions, and disclosures. We highlight what matters: condition, modifications, service history, and provenance.
That said, we don't physically handle items before they're listed. The photos and condition notes come from the seller. If you want more detail on anything, the Q&A section on every listing is the best place to ask. Sellers are responsive, and other bidders benefit from the answers too.

Placing a bid
When you place a bid, the auction price moves to that amount. There's no proxy or hidden maximum working on your behalf. Every bid is a binding commitment at that price if you win.
Anti-sniping protection
A bid in the final two minutes resets the auction to two minutes. This keeps going until no one bids for a full two minutes. No last-second snipes deciding outcomes.
Reserves
Some listings have a reserve price set by the seller. If bidding doesn't reach it, the item won't sell automatically. On Premium listings, the seller and highest bidder can negotiate a deal afterward, so it's still worth bidding.
Bid retractions
If you make a clear typo (say, $30,000 instead of $3,000), you can request a retraction within one hour. Outside of that, bids stand.

What you'll pay
Win at $1,000, pay $1,080.
Win at $3,000, pay $3,240.
An 8% buyer's premium, added to your winning bid. Shipping is covered by the buyer unless the listing says otherwise.
After you win
You'll get an email right away. What happens next depends on the listing type:
Premium listings with Summimarket Pay
Your card is charged at auction close. Funds are held until the seller ships with tracking. One payment, all through the platform.
Standard listings
You'll coordinate payment directly with the seller. We'll connect you with their contact info. Sellers are required to ship with tracking.
Before you bid
Review the photos. Zoom in. Every listing has detailed images. Look at the areas that matter to you: glass clarity on lenses, paint wear on bodies, sensor condition on digital.
Read the condition notes. Sellers disclose known flaws, modifications, and service history here. This section is where you'll find the details that affect value.
Ask questions early. The Q&A section is public, so if you're wondering about something, chances are other bidders are too. Avoid waiting until the last minute to ask — sellers are responsive, but they need time to answer before the auction ends.
Watch first, bid when ready. Add auctions to your watchlist to follow the bidding. You'll get notifications as the auction progresses.
Know that all sales are final. There are no returns on auction purchases. The more you know going in, the better your experience will be.
