The M11 marked a generational leap for Leica's M system when it launched in 2022, pairing a full-frame 60-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor. The silver chrome finish carries forward the visual lineage that began with the M3 in 1954, with some key enhancements to experience with the removal of the baseplate, internal memory, and the addition of USB-C connectivity.

At the core is Leica's 60.3MP BSI CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology, allowing shooters to select 60MP, 36MP, or 18MP output in-camera. The Maestro III processor handles 14-bit DNG raw files with a base ISO of 64, extending to ISO 50,000. The M11 eliminated the baseplate entirely, granting direct access to the internal battery and SD/CFexpress card slot. Metering is handled through a multi-zone system with 1/4000s mechanical and 1/16,000s electronic shutter capability.

The shooting experience remains unmistakably M — manual focus through the brass-geared rangefinder mechanism, a near-silent mechanical shutter, and a completely silent electronic option. The 2.95\" touchscreen provides live view and menu navigation while the optical viewfinder retains projected framelines for 28, 35, 50, 75, 90, and 135mm focal lengths at 0.73x magnification.
